JOB SUMMARY:

The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within our facilities at RTS Wyoming, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for staff and visitors. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to upholding cleanliness standards. This position is responsible for the daily light office/bus maintenance and cleaning to standards set by the company.

 

LOCATION: Warsaw, NY

 

HOURLY RATE: $15.00/hr.

 

WORK HOURS: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 11:00am – 4:00pm

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Sweeping floors, sidewalks, and bus garage doorways.
  • Mopping floors.
  • Vacuuming all carpeted areas.
  • Washing windows and glass doors.
  • Wiping down counters/appliances/tables.
  • Dusting all sills and filing cabinets/desks.
  • Emptying trash receptacles and recycling bins.
  • Monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies.
  • Sanitizing and cleaning restrooms and replenishing supplies.
  • Keeping bus barns swept and cleaned.
  • Ensuring proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
  • Following safety protocols and guidelines while performing duties.
  • Assisting management with Safety Inspection Report.
  • Other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

KNOWLEGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of cleaning equipment and appliances.
  • Knowledge of safe disposal of cleaning agents, chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
  • Experience using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, solutions, and supplies, and other related equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work at particular heights.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong focus and attention to detail.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
  • Physical ability to perform all required tasks.

The employee must be able to lift and or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
